亲眼: With One's Own Eyes in Chinese
亲眼
亲眼 emphasizes that the subject personally witnessed something with their own eyes. It appears before a visual perception verb such as 看见 or 看到, not after that verb as an object. It cannot take aspect marking, and it should not modify information learned only by hearing or reading. This adverb strengthens evidence; it does not describe the manner of seeing.

MODEL
Subject + 亲眼 + Perception verb
Read the structure
亲眼 emphasizes that the subject personally witnessed something with their own eyes. It appears before a visual perception verb such as 看见 or 看到, not after that verb as an object. It cannot take aspect marking, and it should not modify information learned only by hearing or reading. This adverb strengthens evidence; it does not describe the manner of seeing. Keep the model Subject + 亲眼 + Perception verb visible while you compare each sentence.
这件事是我亲眼所见。
I witnessed this matter with my own eyes.
Choose the right context
Stress firsthand visual evidence. Contrast personal observation with hearsay. Use before 看见, 看到, or 目睹.
我亲眼看到他走进了办公室。
I personally saw him enter the office.
Respect the boundary
Do not use it for evidence only heard from others. Do not place it after the perception verb. Do not attach 了 to 亲眼.
我看到亲眼他进了办公室。
(I saw firsthand him enter the office.)
Repair the pattern
The adverb follows the perception verb: 亲眼 must precede the perception verb 看到. 了 is attached to the adverb: Aspect belongs to the witnessed event, not to the adverb 亲眼.
我亲眼看到他进了办公室。
Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.
