Read the structure
还X呢 rejects or challenges an excessive claim by repeating the relevant noun or predicate before 呢. The speaker implies that the situation does not even reach X, often with a sarcastic or corrective tone. It is a discourse formula, not the ordinary additive adverb 还. Keep the model 还 + Noun/Predicate + 呢 visible while you compare each sentence.
还名牌儿呢,我听都没听过。
A famous brand? I have never even heard of it.
Choose the right context
Reject an exaggerated label or claim. Contrast a real level with an even higher imagined standard. Use 呢 to mark a conversational challenge or correction.
还有名的专家呢,这水平还没我高。
A famous expert? This level is not even higher than mine.
Respect the boundary
Do not read it as simple addition in every context. Do not use it without a salient claim to reject. Do not treat 呢 as a past-tense or plural marker.
我还有名牌儿呢。
(I also have a famous brand.)
Repair the pattern
还 is used as neutral addition: The target formula echoes a challenged claim and rejects it; a neutral possession sentence needs a normal subject and verb. The challenged phrase is put after 呢: The noun or predicate follows 还 and precedes sentence-final 呢 in this rhetorical formula.
还名牌儿呢,我听都没听过。
Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.
