像…似的: Simile and Manner in Chinese
像……似的
像…似的 marks a vivid resemblance, meaning ‘as if’ or ‘like.’ The comparison standard follows 像, and 似的 closes that comparison before the main predicate. When the whole phrase modifies a noun, an additional 的 may be required after 似的; do not strand 似的 before its comparison standard.

Read the structure
像…似的 marks a vivid resemblance, meaning ‘as if’ or ‘like.’ The comparison standard follows 像, and 似的 closes that comparison before the main predicate. When the whole phrase modifies a noun, an additional 的 may be required after 似的; do not strand 似的 before its comparison standard. Keep the model 像 + Noun / Clause + 似的 + Predicate or Noun visible while you compare each sentence.
她像孩子似的笑了。
She laughed like a child.
Choose the right context
Compare manner: 像孩子似的笑。 Describe an apparent situation: 像要下雨似的。 Build a noun modifier from a vivid comparison.
天空阴得像要下雨似的。
The sky is dark as if it is going to rain.
Respect the boundary
Do not place 似的 before the comparison standard. Do not omit 像 when a clear comparison frame is needed. Do not use the pattern for literal identity with 是.
她似的像孩子笑了。
(She as-if like a child laughed.)
Repair the pattern
似的 precedes the comparison standard: The comparison must be enclosed in the order 像 + standard + 似的. 得 splits the comparison marker: The degree complement begins with 阴得, and the intact comparison 像要下雨似的 follows it.
她像孩子似的笑了。
Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.
