稍稍: A Small Controlled Degree in Chinese
稍稍
稍稍 reduces an action or state to a small degree, often in measured written description. It stands before the verb or adjective it modifies and can soften a change, response, or instruction. The reduplicated form is a complete adverb; it cannot take aspect marking or follow the predicate as a complement.

Read the structure
稍稍 reduces an action or state to a small degree, often in measured written description. It stands before the verb or adjective it modifies and can soften a change, response, or instruction. The reduplicated form is a complete adverb; it cannot take aspect marking or follow the predicate as a complement. Keep the model Subject + 稍稍 + Verb / Adjective visible while you compare each sentence.
听了他的解释,我稍稍放心了一点儿。
After hearing his explanation, I felt slightly relieved.
Choose the right context
Describe a small emotional or physical change. Soften an instruction to adjust something only a little. Present limited action in careful written narration.
请把声音稍稍调低一些。
Please turn the volume down slightly.
Respect the boundary
Do not attach an aspect particle to 稍稍. Do not place 稍稍 after its predicate. Do not use it with an exact measured difference when a quantity complement is required.
请把声音稍稍了调低。
(Please slightly-LE turn down the volume.)
Repair the pattern
An aspect particle is attached to the degree adverb: 稍稍 is an adverb, so aspect 了 cannot attach to it; 了 belongs with an aspect-bearing predicate or clause. 稍稍 is placed after the changed predicate: 稍稍 must occur before the predicate 放心 rather than after the completed predicate.
请把声音稍稍调低。
Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.
