假如...就...: Suppose That in Chinese
假如 introduces a hypothetical condition, often followed by 就 in the result clause. It can discuss realistic possibilities or imagined situations, depending on context. Compared with ordinary 如果, 假如 often makes the act of supposing more explicit. The condition and result still need complete clauses even when 就 is omitted.

When to use 假如…(就)… — and when not
Use it when
- Ask the listener to suppose a condition: 假如明天下雨,我们就不去了。
- Discuss an imagined role or situation: 假如我是你,我会先道歉。
- Present a possible condition before its consequence.
Don't use it when
- Do not place 就 inside the 假如 condition before its subject and predicate.
- Do not leave the hypothetical condition or its consequence incomplete.
- Use 万一 when emphasizing a low-probability risk that requires preparation.
Right vs. wrong
假如就明天下雨,我们不去。
假如明天下雨,我们就不去。
The result marker is inserted before the condition
假如 introduces the full condition; 就 belongs in the following result clause.
假如你,我们就开始。
假如你同意,我们就开始。
The hypothesis lacks a predicate
假如 must introduce a complete hypothetical condition such as 你同意.
Examples
假如明天下雨,我们就不去了。
Jiǎrú míngtiān xiàyǔ, wǒmen jiù bú qù le.
If it rains tomorrow, we will not go.
假如我是你,我会先道歉。
Jiǎrú wǒ shì nǐ, wǒ huì xiān dàoqiàn.

Common mistakes
假如就明天下雨,我们不去。

Move 就 to the result clause.
