Read the structure

A的A,B的B distributes members of a previously established set into contrasting visible groups or activities. A and B are usually short adjectives or verbs repeated around 的, producing a rhythmic spoken description such as 大的大小的小. Multiple matched parts are required in context; one isolated A的A does not express the full distributive scene. Keep the model A + 的 + A,B + 的 + B visible while you compare each sentence.

衣服大的大,小的小。

Some clothes are large and some are small.

Choose the right context

Divide a set into contrasting property groups. Describe different simultaneous activities in a lively scene. Use short repeated adjectives or verbs for spoken rhythm.

晚会上,大家唱的唱,跳的跳。

At the party, some sang and some danced.

Respect the boundary

Do not omit the repeated word after 的. Do not mix unmatched A and B inside one pair. Do not use one isolated pair when no contrast is recoverable.

衣服大的,小的小。

(Clothes large de, small de small.)

Repair the pattern

The repeated adjective is missing: Each distributive group repeats its adjective on both sides of 的. The two sides of a pair do not match: Within each group, the same property must occupy both A positions or both B positions.

衣服大的大,小的小。

Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.
