为了...而...: For a Purpose in Chinese
为了...而... links a purpose, goal, or motivating concern to the action taken for it. The 为了 phrase normally comes before the action, while 而 marks the transition and makes the purpose-action link explicit. In many contexts 而 can be omitted without changing the core purpose.

为了...而...: For a Purpose FAQ
Can 而 be omitted from 为了...而...?
Often, yes. 而 explicitly links the purpose phrase to the action and makes that relationship clear, but many sentences keep the same core purpose meaning without it.
Where does the subject go with 为了...而...?
The subject may come before the 为了 phrase, as in 他为了学习而搬家, or the purpose phrase may open the sentence. The intended subject still needs to be clear from the sentence or context.
Does 为了 always express an intended goal?
It often introduces a goal or purpose, but it can also present a motivating reason, especially with reactions such as 为了小事而生气. Avoid forcing every example into a strictly future-purpose reading.
