把 Disposal with a Second Object in Chinese
把……动词+宾语2
Some disposal events place the known 把 object into a new role expressed by a second object after the verb, as when money is paid as tuition or savings are used to buy a home. This compact pattern is lexically constrained and requires a natural verb-object relation after the affected item.

MODEL
Subject + 把 + Object 1 + Verb + Object 2
Read the structure
Some disposal events place the known 把 object into a new role expressed by a second object after the verb, as when money is paid as tuition or savings are used to buy a home. This compact pattern is lexically constrained and requires a natural verb-object relation after the affected item. Keep the model Subject + 把 + Object 1 + Verb + Object 2 visible while you compare each sentence.
他把身上的钱交学费了。
He used the money he had on him to pay tuition.
Choose the right context
State the use assigned to money: 他把身上的钱交学费了。 Describe savings converted into a purchase: 父母把存款买了房。 Express a known resource used for a resulting object when the collocation permits it.
我父母把存款买了房。
My parents used their savings to buy a home.
Respect the boundary
Do not assume every transitive verb can take a second object after the 把 object. Do not place object 2 between 把 and object 1. Do not omit a required preposition when the verb does not license this compact double-object relation.
他把学费交身上的钱了。
(He BA tuition paid the money on him.)
Repair the pattern
The two objects are reversed around the verb: The affected resource 钱 is object 1 after 把, while 学费 states the role or destination after 交. A verb that does not license the compact relation is forced into the pattern: 写 does not take the instrument 笔 as a 把 object in this double-object pattern. The instrument must be introduced with 用.
他把身上的钱交学费了。
Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.

03 / EXAMPLES
Examples You Can Reuse
Keep the structure stable while changing the people, objects, times, or conditions. Pinyin is shown as reading support; use the Chinese sentence and translation to confirm the grammar relationship.
他把身上的钱交学费了。
He used the money he had on him to pay tuition.
我父母把存款买了房。
My parents used their savings to buy a home.
她把奖金交了下学期的学费。
She used her bonus to pay next semester's tuition.
04 / LIMITS
When to Use It — and When Not To
Use it when
- State the use assigned to money: 他把身上的钱交学费了。
- Describe savings converted into a purchase: 父母把存款买了房。
- Express a known resource used for a resulting object when the collocation permits it.
Do not use it when
- Do not assume every transitive verb can take a second object after the 把 object.
- Do not place object 2 between 把 and object 1.
- Do not omit a required preposition when the verb does not license this compact double-object relation.
05 / REPAIR
Compare Right and Wrong
Compare the smallest meaningful change. Each explanation identifies a placement, scope, form, or clause relationship instead of treating the whole sentence as one undifferentiated mistake.
他把学费交身上的钱了。
他把身上的钱交学费了。
The two objects are reversed around the verb
The affected resource 钱 is object 1 after 把, while 学费 states the role or destination after 交.
我把这支笔写作业了。
我用这支笔写作业了。
A verb that does not license the compact relation is forced into the pattern
写 does not take the instrument 笔 as a 把 object in this double-object pattern. The instrument must be introduced with 用.
他把学费交身上的钱了。
The affected resource 钱 is object 1 after 把, while 学费 states the role or destination after 交.
我把这支笔写作业了。
写 does not take the instrument 笔 as a 把 object in this double-object pattern. The instrument must be introduced with 用.

08 / QUESTIONS
把 Disposal with a Second Object Questions
Is the noun after the verb always a second object?
Only when the verb and context license that relation. It may identify a payment, purchase, or assigned use.
Can I build this pattern with any resource and verb?
No. It is highly dependent on natural collocation; use a preposition such as 用 when the compact form is not licensed.
