Read the structure

矣 is a literary clause-final particle marking that a state has been reached, a judgment now holds, or a development is complete. The GF item supplies its exact advanced inventory and examples. In modern quotations or elevated prose, 矣 follows a complete predicate and cannot occur inside a verb-object or subject-predicate constituent. Keep the model Complete Clause + 矣 visible while you compare each sentence.

时机成熟矣。

The time is now ripe.

Choose the right context

Use 矣 at the end of an elevated or literary clause. Use it after a predicate presenting a reached state. Use it mainly in quotations, set phrases, or deliberately classical prose.

大势已定矣。

The general course is now settled.

Respect the boundary

Do not insert 矣 inside a verb-object constituent. Do not put 矣 between a subject and its predicate. Do not add ordinary aspect 了 after clause-final 矣.

时机矣成熟。

(The time is now ripe.)

Repair the pattern

Clause-final particle splits subject and predicate: Clause-final 矣 must follow the complete predicate 成熟, not intervene between subject and predicate. Clause-final particle splits verb and object: 矣 cannot split the intact predicate 有成; it follows the completed clause.

时机成熟矣。

Use the repaired structure without changing the intended meaning.
